Last month we heard the HTC One X was coming to Sprint and today Jerry Hildenbrand of Android Central reports the device could launch as the “HTC EVO ONE.” This make perfect sense because Sprint has been using HTC for their flagship EVO brand, and want to keep the series going. The final device name could still be different, because we all know Sprint wants to throw “4G LTE” on the end before it hits stores.
Sprint’s version was previously rumored to launch in June, so that month is looking better and better. The global version of the One X is coming to other carriers next month, but it’s likely that Sprint took the extra time to customize the look of the phone (and wait till their initial LTE markets are ready this summer).
Sprint already has a press event scheduled with HTC on April 4th and Nick Grey will be headed to New York next week to check out the event. Be on the lookout for his hands on report.
Rumored specs of the EVO One include:

Hell yeah. Hope all those rumors are true and if they are, I’ll be all over this in June.
ReplyCome on Sprint, EVO One sounds like its the first Evo, call it EVO X, it has a great ring to it
ReplyEvoX sounds like Ewoks from Star Wars :)
ReplyI still say got with the plain Ol’ “HTC EVO”
ReplyAgreed – and the rumored specs are really handsome but….Please Jesus don’t let them jack up the name with ’4G LTE’ on the end…then you’ll have a buncha ppl complaining that they don’t have LTE yet just as they did with the first Evo and 4G. Learn from HTC…SIMPLIFY – you’ll get better results if ppl take the device home and get pleasantly surprised that its faster than others, rather than expect this awesome speed from a network that doesn’t exist in their area yet.
HTC EVO One/X will work just fine.
Much better battery in there compared to the AT&T model, but Amoled screen could be seen as a downgrade (if its pentile). Love that they are bringing back the kickstand. I hope they keep it as thin as the original tho.
ReplyNah for me the sAmoled HD screen would be an upgrade. I’m a fan of sAmoled versus slcd. Even if that sAmoled is pentile, I don’t care, I still want sAmoled over slcd.
The bright vivid colors, the true deep dark blacks, and amazing sun visibility outweigh anything that slcd could offer.
I guess it’s just personal preference.
ReplyThey said amoled not Samoled.
ReplyTechnically, SLCD allows for most of those features (not quite as good in the contrast area, but better than old LCD) Its also more accurate color replication, and doesn’t have the fuzziness created by pentile pixels. Believe me, if you saw them side by side, you’d most likely favor the original One X vs this.
ReplyI think the pentile “issue” has been beaten to death. Seems to be brought up mostly by people that have not used the phone. This is Androidandme’s review http://androidandme.com/2012/01/reviews/verizon-samsung-galaxy-nexus-review/
this is from the review ” the display is the best in any phone I’ve used thus far, and I think we can safely say we’re beyond the point where PenTile is an inherently negative feature.”
the ONE x has a SUPER LCD 2 (thats a TWO 2) if you have ever seen one in person (which you haven’t i can tell) you would rate it above samoled. the color reproduction is unrivaled. SAMOLED is not that great a screen anyway its really vibrant sure but you can’t calm the colors down to see things how they are supposed to be seen, that sucks.
ReplyAny word or updates on that Androidandme rumored Tegra-3 powered One X with vanilla ICS coming to T-Mobile?
ReplyIsn’t the ONE S already Slated for Tmobile? I’d be Shocked if Tmobile also got the X since the ONE S is already official for tmobile.
ReplyIt’ll be no different than when T-Mobile got variants of BOTH of htc’s high end phones of 2010, the Desire Z and Desire HD. Those two phones became the G2 and the myTouch 4G.
Every other US carrier only got one or the other. Verizon Thunderbolt, at&t Inspire, Sprint Evo Shift. No one else got a version of both the Z and the HD.
HTC LOVES T-Mobile. They even moved one of their big offices to Seattle right where T-Mobile USA HQ is located.
The rumor on the One X for T-Mobile is that it’ll be their next G phone. So stock android ICS and since they don’t need an LTE compatible chipset it’ll be the only Tegra 3 version of the phone in the US paired with the 42mbps HSPA+
ReplyStill got quite a while with my EVO 3d before I’m due for an upgrade, but man would I be all over that if I could!!! “Black and Red”… sounds sexy!
ReplyI’m going to wait for a broad LTE deployment. The WIMAX deployment was underwhelming. My town (a Houston) suburb has 2 towers and you have to sit under them to get a signal. I’ll ride my Evo a little longer and use 3G until I see who wins the LTE footprint battle.
I like the features on the new phone though. Overall I like my HTC phone. If all of the carriers go to limited bandwidth limits, I’ll just drop back to a simple phone with no data. The smart phone season will have passed for me …
//so it goes
ReplyI am so excited!!!! My upgrade is ready April 1st and I will be holding out for this phone. Kickstand, micro SD slot, BIG ole battery, Beats, and best of all… its made by HTC!
If these rumors are true i will be one happy little boy
Just another week til we know for sure!
ReplyI just hope they are wrong about the screen. Everything else is amazing, but 3.7 inches is too small, at least for us Evo users. Also, amoled <<<< SLCD, especially if its a pentile amoled. I really hope the screen is the same as the One X. Otherwise, I'm all over this phone, with the kickstand and red/black looks. Basically, an Evo 4G for 2012. It would be epic.
Replyummmmm 4.7″ screen
ReplyTroll from other Android Sites. Please ignore him
ReplyPlease go away with your COPY and Paste BS from other sites. You’re an obvious ass.
ReplyI’m not on Sprint, but this looks like a killer phone. Definitely Galaxy S III competition.
ReplyI’ve got an iPhone 4S and I will get rid of it for the ego one or whatever they call it. I miss my old ego and android overall.
ReplyIf it only has 16GB, that’s a deal killer for me. I have a 32GB card in my EVO 3D and it’s nearly full.
ReplyYes but it has a micro SD card slot. So what’s the problem?
Replyhow much pornography do you have on your phone???
Replyevo one or galaxy s 3?? tough decision. they need to officially announce these things already
ReplyI wish Sprint’s LTE rollout for NYC was happening in June. I’d be much more inclined to get this phone (or any LTE phone) asap.
ReplyI’m disappointed in the lack of NFC on this version.
ReplyI’d be AMAZED if the Sprint Version doesn’t have an NFC chip. I’ll hold out for the official announcement
ReplyThese are sweet specs
ReplyBattery life should be amazing
ReplyAwesome! Now its going to be between this and the GS3. We just need to get the announcement from Samsung. By then I can make a decision.
Replypsshhh all the HTC fanboys all getting wet
ReplySD slot huh. I hope at&t’s version will have this same feature.
ReplyNot falling for another “next gen” network by Sprint. Still have my trusty Evo4G and been paying my $10 “premium data” charge for dial up speeds as of late. Just waiting for end of contract to get out. Nice phone. Crap network.
ReplyI’m bummed about the non-removable battery!
ReplyThis camera is amazing and will be the best camera beating the iphone…..yea I said it, better than the I phone. I take alot of photos and this is very important to me. Plus the 2,650 ma battery. I thought of getting the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or the S3 but I do have an original Evo and will be staying with HTC. I’m in…..sold……done. Where do I sign. :)
ReplyGotta give HESSE and HTC props they have always loved some EVO. I just hope they ramp up the mAh to 3000 then they are seriously talking. My EVO FAMILY and friends on sprint will handle business come june 6th.
